GET-AHED – Green Education and Transition – A Higher Education Digital Buddy is an Erasmus+-funded project. Launched in early 2023, GET-AHED aims to support HEIs in their green education and transition through providing a digital platform with tools to help HEIs implement EU green priorities.
Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) hold a critical role in driving sustainable solutions, as highlighted in the Science, Research and Innovation Performance Report (EC, 2022), and are recognized as ""priority organisations and agents of change"". Their impact spans four key areas: inspiring sustainable attitudes, training students, conducting vital research, and engaging stakeholders. While many HEIs in Europe engage in green initiatives (EUA, 2021), a significant gap exists: less than a third have greening as a central part of their institutional strategy. This highlights the need for GET-AHED – Green Education and Transition – A Higher Education Digital Buddy, an Erasmus+-funded project.
GET-AHED aims to support HEI strategies and sustainability reporting by providing a dedicated online platform. This platform offers three interconnected tools: the HE Green Assessment for self-evaluation, the HE Green Champions for capacity building, and HE Green Zero for sustainable operations. With these tools, GET-AHED directly addresses the need to mainstream green transition within higher education across the EU.
